This design came about by a search for a “jazzy or spiced up” form with functionality preserved. The arched design looks elegant and sculptural, the outer bowl shape adds dynamics and weight to the scoop, the tapered handle feels nice in the hands and the narrow nose will get into corners. It is carved to hold 1 tablespoon for convenience when measuring out your coffee. Everytime you level the coffee grinds with your finger you will feel the smooth curve of the form.
The scoop is made from Peruvian Walnut, smoothed out carefully and coated in beeswax. The wood stock was made from two pieces of wood laminated together seemlessly using hand tools. Other tools used for this item are: handsaws, clamps, gouges, drawknives, knives, scrapers and sandpaper.
It sits up-right, balanced from symmetry, without the need for a flat section on the bottom of the outer bowl.
