We hear a lot about the European refugee crisis and some in Europe “fear” of being overcome by all those refugees seeking a safe haven.

So here are some figures to consider:

approximately 1.35 million flee into Greece from within Turkey

over 80,000 flee to Italy from Libya

1.85 million refugees flee to France

200,000 flee to the United Kingdom

and the list goes on and on

Enough to make you feel uncomfortable? Enough to make you feel overwhelmed by these figures?

These figures are not 2018 or 2017 or even 2016.

These are figures from 1918-1922 and 1940s.

I point these out because Europe has always had a refugee “crisis”, but unlike the current situation in some European countries, back then they were welcomed by the receiving countries.

The hypocrisy of some European countries and people is astounding. It was “okay” for their people to be refugees in the past due to political/economic/etc reasons but not okay for others.

Keep in mind that those figures mentioned above, few had “documentation”, and the total number of refugees back then far exceeded the current refugee crisis in Europe.
