Whenever I am out shooting, I try to make both horizontal and vertical compositions of the same subject. Of course this does not always work because some subjects really look better either horizontally or vertically. But there are many times when it is possible to find a pleasing composition both horizontally and vertically. This is a vertical composition of the Scrips Pier in La Jolla. The horizontal version of this image has been one of my best selling prints, but I quite like this vertical version as well.
